We at Wags and Woofers were so touched by this tribute to Denali a beloved Pet.
There's no easy way to say goodbye to a friend, especially when they've supported you through your darkest times.
Even if you're not a dog lover, we bet you'll bawl your eyes out over this film chronicling the relationship between photographer Ben Moon and his dog Denali. Made possible by the support of Patagonia, the gut-wrenching tale shows how Moon and Denali supported each other through the most trying of times during the photographer's bout with cancer, and subsequently, Denali's own struggle with the disease.
The film is told from Denali's surprisingly perceptive and funny point of view, opening with his observations of the numbskulls whose worst worries in life are parking at Whole Foods and foul-smelling yoga mats before revealing his own troubles, that's he's dying. The film goes on to show how Moon and Denali's relationship was a give and take throughout, interspersing quiet stills with videos of their mutual joy and suffering.
Moon teamed up with director Ben Knight and cinematographer Skip Armstrong to create the touching tribute, which earned accolades at the 5Point Film Festival and was an official selection at Telluride Mountainfilm.
Our relationships with our Pets, fills our lives with untold stories that we treasure throughout their lives and stay forever in our hearts and minds. I want to be as excited and happy as they are to see me if only it was 2 minutes before, and transpose this pure joy to every aspect of my life. That is what all of my unforgettable animal interactions have taught me.
