We in California have been known to be Trend Setters, usually in the Health Arena and of course Hollywood and Music and and and on..... risk takers and dream seekers.
One night when I was going home from the business my husband and I had in the Design District of West Hollywood (WeHo), a landmark that was known as "Carl's Market" had been sold on the next corner west of us. My route home was to pass this corner every morning and evening. This particular evening an 18 wheel trailer was off loading the merchandise of the new occupants, and has been doing so, sometimes more than once a week, ever since. That was 14 years ago and the new great big store was Petco. Everywhere I looked someone was walking a dog, you could just tell it was different than when you were a kid. This was the New Pet Family.
I have always loved animals and have always rescued or had some just adopt me. That was when I was convinced I wanted to be part of this new evolution. All my rescued Cats and Dogs were teenagers or older but now I wanted to start from scratch, a Puppy. My cat "LUI" a big fluffy Yoda Faced Persian that came to me, 8 years before, through a manicurist in a plastic shopping bag, adopted me the moment we looked in each others eyes. So I figured a puppy would just fit perfectly into our little family.
It was a complete shock when we got the beautiful Blenheim Cavalier King Charles little girl, and had her meet with her soon to be best ever friend, "LUI". Though the best friend part came later. She was a lot of work and the cat tolerated her to a point, but it was my husband who fell head-over-heels in love...... no crate training for him only playpen and our bed, and an occasional romp through this giant new world with all of us totally entranced.
Life went on and our beautiful Lui Cat past at 17.5 years. DaphneRose (Daffy) was devastated, and yes, animals do grieve, just as we do.
My love of Cats and Dogs led me to seek more information and knowledge about my passion and what I thought was becoming a revolution. I so wanted to engage in this new world of animal care and well-being and add my particular touch and creativity. So www.wagsandwoofers.com became a reality.
